Ragi shake

Ragi which is called finger millet in English is a staple in South India. Ragi being a wonder grain is rich in calcium, iron, amino acids and Vitamin D and is a power food that’s used for making variety of dishes. This grain serves a coolant effect to the body and is excellent to have it during summers to cool the body. This simple recipe calls for very little ingredients yet provides you all the richness your body needs.

  • Ragi – 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery – 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom – 2/3 pods
  • Water – 2 cups


  • Dry roast the ragi grains on a pan and keep aside.
  • Once the grains are cooled down, add them to the blender and also add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
  • Now strain the mixture through a sieve and serve. Tastes best when chilled.
  • And also the recipe can be made with ragi flour and the same needs to be dry roasted on pan for few mins before blending.
